Caring for carers

Did you know that Across the UK today 6.5 million people are carers, supporting a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill?

Caring is such an important part of life. It’s simply part of being human. Carers are holding families together, enabling loved ones to get the most out of life, making an enormous contribution to society and saving the economy billions of pounds.

Yet many of them are stretched to the limit – juggling care with work and family life, or even struggling with poor health themselves. They often find it difficult to make ends meet if unable to work and unlikely to get the care they need to care for others.

Phoenix Therapists would like to help support them in the best way we know how, by providing complementary therapies, reflexology and massage.  Last month, we held the first Caring for Carers fundraising event with 9 therapists giving their time freely to provide treatments to our Friends of Phoenix, who paid just a little bit more than they would normally, knowing that it would be passed on to those who needed it more.  That money is now going back to our therapists to provide treatments to carers, either in their own homes, if they can’t get out, or, at a treatment centre if they are able to get there.

We are working with 3 fabulous charities and anyone who is in touch with one of these treatments can access these free treatments.
